A business licence does not itself authorize a non-Anguillian owner or employee to work in Anguilla. Work permits are administered through the Department of Labour and should be treated as a separate critical path in the launch or hiring plan.
Before the application
- Complete any required local vacancy advertising/recruitment step.
- Prepare the work-permit application and medical documentation.
- Gather police record, qualifications and identity documents where required.
- Ensure the employer's business licence, Social Security and tax-compliance documents are current.
Fees and timing
The Department publishes an EC$100 processing fee in addition to the category-based work-permit fee. Other levies can apply depending on the position. Because fees and processing requirements can change, confirm the current schedule before committing to payroll or a start date.
Keep the employment file complete
Store the approved permit, expiry date, contract/job description, recruitment evidence, Social Security information and payroll records together. Renewal should begin early enough to avoid an employee working after permission has expired.
